What happened: Detroit received three minor-league prospects for Tarik Skubal: one outfielder and two right-handers. Heyman characterized one of the pitchers as talented but oft-injured.

Why it matters: Skubal can enter free agency after the 2026 season, limiting the control Detroit could market. Los Angeles added the two-time reigning AL Cy Young winner while pursuing a third straight World Series title.

By the numbers: The return contains three prospects: one outfielder and two right-handers. Skubal has won two consecutive AL Cy Young Awards.

What to watch: Skubal's Dodgers debut and Detroit's assignments for the three prospects are the next markers.
