What happened: The Houston Texans enter their upcoming regular-season contest after holding a 17-14 in-game advantage on Sunday before securing the three-point win. Houston also waived a rookie linebacker on Saturday following a recent draft-pick acquisition.

Why it matters: The 2026 campaign marks the return of a wide receiver who missed the entire 2025 season, expanding the offensive rotation. Houston also invested the No. 36 overall selection in the second round of the April draft on a defensive tackle to anchor the interior front.

What to watch: Houston's defensive unit faces its next regular-season test this week as the coaching staff evaluates the updated active-roster rotation.
