What happened: The New England Patriots added cornerback Christian Gonzalez to Thursday's status list with an illness, per team communications and James Palmer.

Why it matters: With the game not started yet and the score at 0-0 ahead of kickoff, the late Thursday designation leaves New England's defensive backfield awaiting pregame clearance for the former Oregon standout.

What to watch: Official pregame inactives ahead of Thursday night's scheduled kickoff at Chicago will determine whether Gonzalez suits up.
