What happened: Kiki Iriafen scored the go-ahead basket with 27 seconds left in the fourth quarter to lift the Washington Mystics to an 86-83 road win over the New York Liberty in Brooklyn. Iriafen finished with 20 points and six rebounds in the win.

Why it matters: The result ends New York's eight-game winning streak and is a marquee upset for Washington, which had dropped both recent meetings with the Liberty this season. It is a steadying result for Iriafen, who had been sidelined earlier this month with a right ankle sprain.

By the numbers: Iriafen led the way with 20 points and six rebounds. New York entered at 12-5 riding an eight-game win streak; Washington sat at 7-8 before the result. The Liberty had won the two prior meetings this season, 86-64 on June 14 and 98-93 on May 10.

What to watch: Washington looks to build on the upset, while New York aims to start a new streak after its first loss in more than two weeks.
