What happened: Ja Morant recorded 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the field in Friday's preseason action. He converted all three of his three-point attempts while missing just two shots overall.

Why it matters: After starting Damian Lillard and Scoot Henderson over Morant earlier in the preseason, Portland continues evaluating its crowded guard rotation ahead of the 2026-27 regular season. Efficient perimeter shooting gives Morant a stronger case for off-ball minutes alongside the Trail Blazers' other primary ball-handlers.

What to watch: Portland wraps up its final preseason preparations with regular-season opening week four days away.
