Why it matters: His power-speed production adds breadth to a lineup carrying an 84-51 record and an eight-game division lead. It also gives Bauers a new career benchmark entering the final month.

By the numbers: 23 home runs; 10 steals in 14 attempts; .275 batting average entering Aug. 29.

What to watch: Bauers can add to both totals in Saturday night's home game.
