What happened: Jaxon Smith-Njigba recorded 11 receiving yards in the first half of Week 6, per PFF. That marks his lowest opening-half output of the 2026 regular season after he posted at least 35 first-half yards in each of the first five weeks.

Why it matters: Even with the slow Week 6 start, Smith-Njigba topped PFF receiving grades at 93.1 earlier this season and enters the week averaging 116.6 receiving yards per game. Opposing defenses have increasingly bracketed him early to limit explosive first-half plays after his 108-yard first half in Week 2.

By the numbers: Smith-Njigba first-half receiving yards by week (per PFF): Week 1: 53 | Week 2: 108 | Week 3: 35 | Week 4: 56 | Week 5: 42 | Week 6: 11 (305 total first-half yards across six weeks; 116.6 total receiving yards per game in 2026).

What to watch: Second-half adjustments and target share in Week 7 will show whether defenses can continue containing Smith-Njigba on early scripts.
