What happened: Jayson Tatum and Paul George now share the floor as Boston Celtics teammates more than a decade after Tatum compared himself to George on social media. The pairing comes after Boston acquired the nine-time All-Star in July and assigned him the No. 13 jersey.

Why it matters: Boston's reworked roster is building chemistry during the 2026-27 preseason following the offseason trade of Jaylen Brown. The Celtics topped the Charlotte Hornets 114-93 in recent preseason action as Tatum and George prepare for their first year together.

By the numbers: Jayson Tatum led all scorers with 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists in Boston's 114-93 final over the Charlotte Hornets. Derrick White added 17 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists, while Neemias Queta recorded 16 points, 1 rebound, and 1 assist.

What to watch: Tatum, George, and the Celtics open the 2026-27 regular season against Cade Cunningham, Jalen Duren, and the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 3 p.m. ET.
