What happened: Dan Woike and Michael Scotto linked Sims to Los Angeles as the club searches for another center. Sims is due $2.8 million for the 2026-27 season after exercising his player option with Milwaukee.

Why it matters: Los Angeles added Walker Kessler and Kevon Looney after parting with Jaxson Hayes and Deandre Ayton, but still lacks an athletic reserve center. Both clubs carry 16 or more players, complicating a direct deal without further roster consolidation.

What to watch: Los Angeles’ pursuit of Jonathan Kuminga could determine which contracts and roster spots remain available. Milwaukee must reduce its roster before opening night.
