What happened: Jessica Shepard is being backed for the WNBA’s 2026 Most Improved Player award and an All-WNBA selection. The push follows a season in which she passed Sabrina Ionescu for second on the career triple-double list.

Why it matters: The dual candidacy reflects Shepard’s expanded statistical impact during the 2026 regular season. She has also tied Angel Reese for the league’s double-double lead, strengthening her case beyond a single award category.

By the numbers: Shepard became the WNBA’s only player with at least 10 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in a game during the 2026 season. She also entered the year’s All-Star field for the first time.

What to watch: The remaining regular-season results and postseason voting will shape Shepard’s final award standing.
