What happened: The NFL fined New York Jets safety Minkah Fitzpatrick twice for a combined total exceeding $29,000 stemming from plays against the Cleveland Browns, per Mike Garafolo. One infraction assessed a $17,911 penalty for unnecessary roughness on a defenseless player following his collision with Browns wide receiver KC Concepcion, even after Concepcion stated earlier this week that the hit was not dirty.

Why it matters: League officiating reviewers issue weekly financial discipline for hits on defenseless receivers independent of whether the injured player takes issue with the tackle. Concepcion, the 24th overall selection in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft, exited the Oct. 11 matchup with a head injury after the play and remained in concussion protocol as a limited participant at practice on Oct. 14.

What to watch: Fitzpatrick plans to appeal the league's fine assessment in an effort to have the financial penalty reduced.
