What happened: The club announced a suspension for goaltender Connor Hellebuyck after he did not report to training camp. Camp opened Sept. 16, and Kevin Cheveldayoff is scheduled to address the situation Thursday.

Why it matters: The move turns a drawn-out trade standoff into a formal disciplinary step just as preseason roster work begins. It also deepens the uncertainty around Hellebuyck's unresolved trade request after fair-value offers failed to materialize before camp.

What to watch: Cheveldayoff's Thursday availability is the next marker for any shift in the club's stance. Watch for whether the suspension changes the pace of trade talks before camp moves deeper into preseason work.
