What happened: Denver Broncos safety JL Skinner delivered a standout defensive performance after playing almost exclusively on special teams. Skinner stepped into the secondary and provided an immediate physical presence in the defensive backfield.

Why it matters: Skinner's defensive contribution provides depth for Denver as the team navigates rotational needs during the regular season. Dependable play from core special teams contributors expands defensive options for the coaching staff.

What to watch: Denver will determine whether Skinner earns expanded defensive snaps in upcoming game plans.
