What happened: Speaking on Frankly Hockey, John Buccigross said overnight information indicated Detroit is headed toward a trade within the next week and a half. When co-host Frank Seravalli asked whether the deal would involve Dylan Larkin, Buccigross confirmed Larkin is the player at the center of the talks.

Why it matters: The timeline escalates Detroit trade chatter after Seravalli and Buccigross discussed Larkin trade concepts on Oct. 9 following his Oct. 6 season debut. Moving Larkin early in the 2026-27 regular season would reshape Detroit's top-six center depth and accelerate a broader roster shakeup.

What to watch: Detroit's roster decisions and lineup usage through the Oct. 25-28 window will test Buccigross's seven-to-ten-day timetable.
