What happened: Joshua Van dropped Tatsuro Taira with a right hand late in the second round of their UFC 328 flyweight title fight, according to Ariel Helwani's live post and round-by-round coverage from MMA Fighting. Taira had controlled much of the fight early with takedowns and top position, but Van's knockdown appeared to flip the momentum before the horn.

Why it matters: The sequence mattered because Van entered his first title defense under scrutiny after winning the belt when Alexandre Pantoja suffered an in-fight injury at UFC 323. A momentum-changing knockdown in a championship fight can reshape live judging, swing in-fight betting, and alter the direction of a closely contested title bout.

What to watch: Watch for the official result and scorecards to see whether Van's late surge outweighed Taira's early grappling control. Any post-fight reaction will also shape how legitimate Van's title reign is viewed going forward.
