What happened: The Sacramento Kings downgraded guard Malik Monk from questionable to doubtful due to left ankle soreness ahead of tipoff against the Los Angeles Clippers, who won the game 121-96.

Why it matters: Monk's pregame status change left Sacramento short-handed in the backcourt for the road opener in Los Angeles. The Clippers controlled the matchup against the depleted Kings rotation through the final buzzer.

What to watch: Sacramento will monitor Monk's left ankle soreness ahead of the team's next scheduled contest.
