What happened: San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan voiced confidence in the depth and performance of the team's quarterback group during the 2026 regular season.

Why it matters: Shanahan, who agreed to an offseason contract extension with San Francisco following a July 14 car crash, guided the roster to a 5-0 start and a 23-17 Week 6 Monday night victory. Continuity in the quarterback room supports an offense that has ruled out pursuing a major wide receiver trade.

By the numbers: San Francisco opened the 2026 season 5-0 and closed out a 23-17 Week 6 win on Monday night.

What to watch: San Francisco prepares for its Week 7 regular-season matchup ahead of the NFL trade deadline.
