What happened: Quentin Grimes entered the Los Angeles Lakers' starting lineup for Sunday's road matchup at Detroit with Luka Doncic ruled out due to low back tightness. Grimes started alongside Austin Reaves, Matisse Thybulle, Jake LaRavia, and Walker Kessler.
Why it matters: Doncic's absence places additional playmaking responsibility on Reaves as Los Angeles seeks to maintain momentum. The Lakers hold an 8-2 record in 2026-27 through 10 games and enter the contest on a four-game winning streak.
By the numbers: Doncic has recorded 40.1 points per game, 7.8 rebounds per game, and 7.7 assists per game in 2026-27 through 9 games. Reaves has recorded 23.5 points per game and 4.7 assists per game in 2026-27 through 10 games. Grimes has recorded 7.6 points per game in 2026-27 through 10 games.
What to watch: The Lakers look to extend their four-game winning streak as they face Detroit on Sunday.
