What happened: Detroit ruled out left guard Christian Mahogany with a hip injury and right tackle Blake Miller with a knee issue ahead of Thursday night's Week 2 meeting with Buffalo. Ben Bartch is in line at left guard and Larry Borom at right tackle, while corner D.J. Reed is questionable after being limited Wednesday. Center Juice Scruggs and defensive back Christian Izien are positioned to be available.

Why it matters: Mahogany left Week 1 after 11 snaps, and Detroit now goes into Thursday against the Buffalo Bills with two projected replacement starters on the offensive line. The reshuffle also affects game-day roster math, because dressing eight offensive linemen would open a 48th active spot.

What to watch: Detroit's inactive list will show whether Devin Cochran, Elijah Klein or Seth McLaughlin is elevated to reach eight active linemen. Buffalo's late calls on Ty Johnson, T.J. Sanders and Cole Bishop are the other status checks before kickoff.
