What happened: Hernandez secured the finish at 1:01 of Round 2 after a back-and-forth middleweight bout on Dana White's Contender Series Week 6. The result pushed his record to 8-0 and added another stoppage win to his case on a busy five-fight card.

Why it matters: A finish on Contender Series carries weight because contracts are often decided as much by how a fighter wins as by the result itself. Hernandez arrived with some momentum from his earlier showing on the card, and the submission gave him a stronger closing argument.

What to watch: The next move to watch is whether Hernandez receives a UFC contract after the Week 6 results are finalized. Contract decisions from the card will show how his finish stacked up against the other winners.
