What happened: Luka Doncic connected from the logo at the buzzer during Wednesday night's 2026-27 season opener. The long-range conversion punctuated the national broadcast on SN1.

Why it matters: Hours before tipoff, Doncic, who addressed his technical fouls earlier in October, purchased a full-page newspaper advertisement declaring the start of a championship run. Opening the 2026-27 schedule with a buzzer-beater from midcourt distance backs up that pregame pledge after an offseason of roster changes built around his perimeter creation.

What to watch: Doncic moves into the next leg of the opening-week slate as the 2026-27 regular season continues.
