What happened: Nathan MacKinnon scored late to tie Game 5, keeping the Colorado Avalanche alive in a pivotal moment with a chance to advance on home ice. ESPN highlighted the strike as a momentum-shifting goal as the Avalanche pushed for a series-clinching result in Denver.

Why it matters: MacKinnon's late equalizer underscores why he remains Colorado's engine in high-leverage postseason hockey, with the Avalanche's championship window resting heavily on his ability to deliver in elimination-level moments. A win in Game 5 would let Colorado close the series at home rather than face a road return with the matchup tightening.

What to watch: Watch whether MacKinnon's tying goal swings the game into overtime and how Colorado manages defensive-zone coverage with the season-shaping result on the line. The Avalanche's path forward in the bracket hinges on closing this one out at home.
