What happened: Nathan MacKinnon scored a goal for his fourth point of the night. His three earlier points were assists, one of them on Lehkonen's ninth goal of the season.

Why it matters: It is the biggest single-game output so far this season from the same MacKinnon ESPN ranked No. 2 in its preseason Top 100. It also comes as the league watches whether his strong start to the 2026-27 regular season can last.

By the numbers: Tonight: 1 goal, 3 assists, 4 points for MacKinnon. One of the assists set up Lehkonen's ninth goal of the season.

What to watch: His next game will show whether the four-point night is the start of a run or a one-game spike.
