The decision follows a successful interim spell and is awaiting final approval from Sir Jim Ratcliffe. Carrick is reportedly enthusiastic about committing his long-term future to the club.

Why it matters: Carrick has overseen a remarkable turnaround since January, lifting United from seventh to third in the Premier League. His tactical flexibility and leadership secured Champions League qualification with three matches to spare. The move aims to provide long-term stability as the club prepares for the 2026-27 season.

What to watch: A formal announcement is expected once Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the INEOS hierarchy finalize the approval. United conclude their Premier League campaign on May 24.
