What happened: Marcus Johansson has signed a contract to continue his career in Sweden, according to the ProHockeyRumors item carried by Google News. A follow-up report described Johansson as a pending unrestricted free agent coming off a strong NHL season and returning to play in Sweden.

Why it matters: The move takes an experienced NHL forward off the offseason market before free agency fully opens. It also points to a career-stage decision for Johansson, who had recently been linked to a return home rather than another North American stop.

What to watch: Watch for formal club confirmation in Sweden and contract details. NHL teams now move forward without Johansson as a depth-forward option.
