What happened: Marcus Smart participated in Saturday's Houston Rockets practice following a preseason slate where he scored his first points for the club on Oct. 11. The veteran guard reported to training camp on Sept. 23 after joining the roster during the offseason.

Why it matters: Smart agreed to a two-year, $13 million contract on July 1 that became official on July 10, adding veteran backcourt depth for Houston. The intrastate matchup against the Dallas Mavericks marks his regular-season debut with the franchise.

What to watch: Houston has three days of preparation remaining before Wednesday's regular-season tipoff against Dallas.
