What happened: Seattle is searching for a manager while Cleveland is still playing in October. Stephen Vogt signed a Cleveland extension before the 2025 season after winning his second AL Manager of the Year award.

Why it matters: Moving a sitting manager under extension would require Cleveland's consent. The timing complicates matters with the Guardians in the middle of an ALCS-week push.

What to watch: Cleveland's response and any formal permission request from Seattle will settle the question.
