What happened: The Dallas Mavericks are firmly rejecting offseason trade interest in Kyrie Irving. Management has communicated to opposing front offices that the nine-time All-Star is unavailable.

Why it matters: The front office prefers to evaluate Irving's fit alongside Cooper Flagg rather than move another star following the Luka Doncic trade. Retaining the veteran guard provides continuity for a franchise looking to bounce back from consecutive playoff misses.

What to watch: Irving and Flagg are expected to debut their partnership at the start of the 2026-27 season.
