What happened: J.J. McCarthy entered off the bench for the New York Giants on Sunday. He directed a pair of late scoring drives, capped by his first touchdown pass for the club.

Why it matters: The relief outing gives New York another evaluated option under center. It continued the former Michigan quarterback's early integration into the offense.

What to watch: The Giants' quarterback plan for next week is the next detail to clarify. Practice participation will show where McCarthy slots.
