At this point, we must carve out a minute simply to appreciate the magic of Oilers superstar Connor McDavid. @Dixononspo Via @Sportsnet on X

What happened: Edmonton captain Connor McDavid posted five points Oct. 18 in the 2026-27 regular season. The 6-2 final gave Edmonton another October win.

Why it matters: McDavid set winning the Pacific Division as the Oilers goal in September. Elite production from the captain directly controls that chase in October. Consistency now shapes seeding leverage later.

By the numbers: McDavid: 5 points in one game Oct. 18; Oilers: 6 goals in 6-2 win.

What to watch: Sustained scoring pace through October determines early Pacific separation.
