ANOTHER ONE 🤯 Connor McDavid assists the OT winner and racks up 26 PTS on the season! https://t.co/dIbRTp94rk Via @espn on X

What happened: The assist decided the game in overtime. It continued a record start that includes 20 assists through the first nine games.

Why it matters: The start kept McDavid on a 241-point pace to open 2026-27. The five-point night in the 6-2 win over the Mammoth showed the recent production behind the surge.

By the numbers: 26 points on the season, with 20 assists through nine games, an NHL record for that span. Five points, including two goals and three assists, in the Oct. 17 6-2 win over the Mammoth.

What to watch: Whether the early point pace holds through the next stretch of games is the marker to track.
