What happened: Thomas finished 6-of-10 from the field and recorded one steal after sitting out the opening stretch of the 2026-27 regular season. "Stay ready and my moment will come," Thomas said regarding the wait for his first NBA action. "You can't really keep a star in the closet for too long.

Why it matters: After signing his first NBA contract on July 1 and competing in Las Vegas Summer League, the rookie guard whom Cleveland pushed to ramp up his defensive pressure delivered two-way production in his first regular-season appearance under head coach Kenny Atkinson. His perimeter efficiency gives Cleveland an immediate bench scoring option early in the 2026-27 campaign.

What to watch: Monitor whether Atkinson keeps Thomas in Cleveland's regular backcourt rotation following the Oct. 26 matchup against Minnesota.
