What happened: Goaltender Michael DiPietro turned aside all 28 shots he faced on Thursday night to secure a 6-0 regular-season victory. The outing marked his first start since earning a 4-2 victory on Oct. 17 for the first win of his NHL career.

Why it matters: Back-to-back milestone victories across a six-day span give DiPietro early traction in the 2026-27 goaltending rotation. Delivering a regulation clean sheet immediately after his breakthrough win strengthens his case for consistent starts during the opening month of the schedule.

By the numbers: DiPietro recorded 28 saves in the 6-0 shutout on Oct. 22 after allowing two goals in a 4-2 victory on Oct. 17, totaling two goals surrendered across his first two career NHL wins.

What to watch: Monitor the upcoming starting goalie rotation to see how quickly DiPietro draws his next crease assignment.
