What happened: The nod comes at pitcher, recognizing defensive work from the mound during the 2026 season. The club announced Michael McGreevy as a Rawlings Gold Glove Award finalist.

Why it matters: The nomination puts McGreevy in line for one of baseball's established defensive honors. It spotlights pitcher fielding, where clean plays can stop rallies and limit extra outs.

What to watch: Rawlings will announce the winners later in the awards cycle. A win would add a league-wide defensive honor to McGreevy's resume.
