What happened: The Tampa Bay Rays, Los Angeles Angels and Cincinnati Reds are connected by a reported three-team trade, per MLB Trade Rumors.

Why it matters: Three-club construction spreads roster consequences beyond a single buyer and seller. The balance of major-league help and longer-term depth will determine how each front office is judged.

What to watch: Attention now turns to on-field production from the players each club added.
