What happened: CBS Sports analyst Rick Neuheisel said Ohio State must rely on its defense to protect freshman quarterback Luke Fahey against Oregon. Neuheisel pointed to defensive execution as the critical factor in managing the game.

Why it matters: The contest places heavy responsibility on the freshman signal-caller against a conference opponent. Limiting Oregon's scoring chances provides the Buckeyes an avenue to control tempo without forcing Fahey into high-risk passing situations.

What to watch: Ohio State hosts Oregon on Saturday afternoon in Columbus.
