What happened: Shedeur Sanders is slated to make his first start of the 2026 regular season on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints. The Cleveland Browns elevated the second-year quarterback after opening the season with Sanders listed second on the depth chart behind Deshaun Watson. Sanders takes over under center following two relief appearances earlier this year.

Why it matters: The start gives Cleveland an extended look at Sanders in live regular-season action. A productive outing could stabilize the offense and reshape the quarterback rotation down the stretch. The assignment also arrives just days before the league's Nov. 10 trade deadline.

What to watch: Sanders leads the Browns against the Saints on Sunday. The NFL trade window closes on Tuesday, Nov. 10.
