What happened: Brazil's Superior Court of Sports Justice voted by majority on Wednesday to penalize the Santos No. 10 for covering his mouth during a halftime altercation with Bahia midfielder Rodrigo Nestor in a 1-1 draw. Before the dismissal, Neymar also drew his third yellow card of the campaign in the first half for throwing the ball at Nestor following a foul near the byline. Santos retains the right to appeal the tribunal's decision.

Why it matters: The yellow-card accumulation rules Neymar out of Wednesday's Round 33 derby against Palmeiras at Vila Belmiro, while the automatic red-card suspension The two-match tribunal sanction then extends his absence through the post-international-break Round 35 match against Coritiba on Nov. 18, sidelining him for nearly a month during the closing stretch of the 2026 Brasileirao regular season.

What to watch: Santos must decide whether to file an appeal ahead of the Nov. 18 meeting with Coritiba. Barring a reduced sentence, Neymar will return on Nov. 22 against Gremio before closing the campaign against Vitoria on Nov. 29 and Botafogo on Dec. 2.
