What happened: When World Series Game 1 starter Nick Martinez takes the mound, he will complete all 3 major career milestones tracked for USA Baseball players, per Jon Morosi. That career résumé combines an Olympic medal, a World Baseball Classic medal, and a World Series appearance.

Why it matters: Crossing off all 3 international and postseason stages places Martinez in rare company among USA Baseball alumni as he takes the ball to open the Fall Classic. Having pitched on the Olympic and World Baseball Classic stages, he now anchors the pitching staff in the series opener.

What to watch: Game 1 has not started yet, with the Tampa Bay Rays and Milwaukee Brewers at 0-0 ahead of first pitch. Martinez's milestone becomes official once he enters the opener.
