What happened: Dave Roberts said Shohei Ohtani told him he is well enough to help win a baseball game. Roberts said that was all he needed to hear to keep Ohtani in the lineup for NLCS Game 3.

Why it matters: The Dodgers trail 2-0 entering the Tuesday off day, with the series moving toward elimination territory. Retaining Ohtani keeps a middle-order bat in place after a 7-4 loss in which the offense managed four runs.

What to watch: Watch where Ohtani slots in the Game 3 order and whether his contact returns at the shift in venues.
