What happened: Edmonton GM Stan Bowman is reported in detailed talks with an Eastern Conference club about a young center. The discussions have continued for weeks with Edmonton described as the frontrunner.

Why it matters: Edmonton is weighing outside help against extended looks at young pieces already in house. A high-upside center with room to grow would address the middle of the roster if internal options fall short.

What to watch: Watch whether Edmonton closes the deal or turns to its in-house options in camp.
