What happened: San Diego's left-field search has recently turned to this two-player mix. Samad Taylor joined on a minor-league deal in January and made his MLB season debut in June. Friday's game against Miami had not started, with the score still 0-0.

Why it matters: That matters because left field has been a lingering roster question in San Diego. If Harris and Taylor keep holding the spot, the Padres can spend less time reshuffling one corner of the lineup.

What to watch: Once the game gets underway, lineup usage will show how San Diego is splitting the position right now.
