What happened: The Carolina Panthers signed cornerback Jakorian Bennett to their practice squad, per Adam Schefter's rival Ian Rapoport. Bennett is a former Las Vegas Raiders and Philadelphia Eagles defender. He had been a free agent since Nov. 3, and visited Carolina this week after clearing waivers.

Why it matters: Bennett, a fourth-round pick (104th overall) out of Maryland in 2023, gives the 3-4 Panthers depth in the secondary. Carolina has lost two straight, most recently 27-19 at Green Bay on Oct. 29.

What to watch: Carolina can promote him to the active roster on a game-day basis as injuries or matchups dictate.
