What happened: Playing 20 first-half minutes in the 2026-27 regular-season opener at Kia Center, Paolo Banchero opened 5-for-5 from the floor to reach a game-high 15 points before closing the half at 22 points on 6-of-7 shooting. He connected on all three of his three-point attempts, including an early stepback triple, while adding five assists before intermission.

Why it matters: The opening-night outburst extends Banchero's sharp preseason form after he posted 16 points, five rebounds, and four assists in the first half of his tune-up finale en route to a 25-point, seven-rebound finish. Combining perimeter perfection with five first-half assists backs up his stated offseason focus on elevating his all-around offensive production.

What to watch: Second-half action at Kia Center will test whether Banchero maintains his shooting efficiency and playmaking pace across a full opening-night workload.
