What happened: New England Patriots used S Mike Brown, LB Erick Hunter, TE Cameron Latu, LB Darius Muasau and LB Namdi Obiazor on all four first-string kicking-game units in Week 6. The set report/article/patriots-use-brown-muasau-obiazor-on-four-special-teams-unit-2026-10-06">same four-unit assignment Brown, Muasau and Obiazor held Oct. 6</a>.

Why it matters: A fixed five-man core stabilizes coverage lanes and field position while the back end of the roster turns over. Hunter and Brown are rookies handling full loads, with Latu and Muasau bringing prior-year defensive snaps to the mix.

By the numbers: Latu made 11 tackles in 15 games in 2025 with Philadelphia; Muasau made 51 tackles with 1 sack in 12 games in 2025 with the New York Giants. Hunter entered 2026 listed out of Morgan State and Brown entered 2026 listed out of Miami (OH) as rookies.

What to watch: The next first-unit lineup shows whether the same five keep all four jobs and whether practice-squad movement forces a change.
