What happened: PCA tops the National League in WAR, OPS, slugging, OPS+, WPA, extra-base hits and runs created. He also leads in adjusted batting wins, adjusted batting runs and power-speed number.

Why it matters: The breadth of the production places PCA at the center of the NL MVP race. Signature moments are not an official statistic.

What to watch: The MVP debate will turn on whether PCA sustains that production through September.
