Rui Hachimura discussed his "tough" Lakers exit, returning to https://t.co/35sRdYSTPI Arena last week and how his time w Via @khobi_price on X

What happened: Speaking with Khobi Price, Hachimura said he tried to work out a contract extension to stay with the Los Angeles Lakers in free agency before talks fell through. Despite the departure, the forward credited his tenure with the Lakers for helping his career development.

Why it matters: Hachimura signed with the Clippers in July as the Lakers pivoted their offseason roster strategy toward defensive additions. Remaining in Los Angeles with the rival Clippers kept Hachimura in the same arena while reshaping the forward depth for both Pacific Division clubs.

What to watch: Hachimura is currently listed out with left quad soreness as the Clippers navigate their early regular-season slate. Both Los Angeles teams will square off again in Pacific Division action later this season.
