What happened: San Francisco acquired Osa Odighizuwa in March for a 2026 third-round pick. The deal paired an interior pass rusher with Nick Bosa on the defensive line.

Why it matters: The 49ers' interior defenders earned the NFL's lowest PFF grade and generated the fewest pressures in 2025. The defense also ranked 24th in EPA per play, making the rebuilt front central to its 2026 outlook.

By the numbers: Odighizuwa produced 52 pressures, 23 quarterback hits and 3.5 sacks in 2025. Since 2023, he ranks seventh among qualifying interior defenders in pressures and fifth with a 14.2% pass-rush win rate.

What to watch: Training camp will show how San Francisco divides interior and edge-rushing assignments before Week 1.
