What happened: Cristopher Sánchez will start Tuesday's All-Star Game for the National League, per Jon Heyman. The assignment puts the Phillies left-hander on the mound in Philadelphia, the game's host city.

Why it matters: The start caps a run that already made Sánchez a two-time NL All-Star this season. Philadelphia enters the break at 46-41, and having its top starter on the mound at Citizens Bank Park adds a hometown angle to the honor.

By the numbers: The Phillies are 46-41 with a one-game winning streak heading into the break.

What to watch: Sánchez takes the ball Tuesday in Philadelphia as the National League's All-Star Game starter.
