What happened: Detroit turned to Michal Postava for his first NHL start against Edmonton. He pokechecked Connor McDavid and denied Evan Bouchard on the same overtime sequence to preserve the tie. Dylan Larkin equalized with just over a minute left in regulation, and the game went to a shootout.

Why it matters: Stopping McDavid and Bouchard back-to-back in overtime is a high-leverage test for a debuting goaltender. It gives Detroit an early 2026-27 look at added depth in net. A point on the road against Edmonton also banks value before the standings tighten.

What to watch: Detroit's next goaltending call will show whether Postava earns another start. The shootout will decide the extra point.
